Nursery Nurse – Health Visiting Team, Child & Family Services

The role of the Nursery Nurse includes supporting delivery of the Healthy Child programme such as child development reviews and promoting health and independence by supporting clients with activities of daily living and undertaking. You will be using simple nursing procedures to achieve planned care goals whilst working within a multi-disciplinary team. Working at this level you will work as directed by trained staff. Although advice and guidance is always available you will be working unsupervised in a community setting and will be expected to use your own judgement to resolve problems and issues appropriately within the scope of your responsibility.

hours: 37.5 pw

salary: Grade 2 - £38,433.87 - £40,466.62 depending on experience

criteria: Essentially you must have an NVQ, Diploma or equivalent qualification in Child Care and a minimum of GCSE Maths and English. You will be able to evidence that you have an understanding of working in a way that reflects a child centred approach and a comprehensive knowledge of children's rights, participatory needs and interests. Role details

This exciting opportunity involves working within the Health Visiting Team – Child & Family Services.

Key responsibilities include:

Practice/Care Delivery
You will make a key contribution to care planning and standard setting for clients in a
community setting, participate in the co-ordination of care for specified
individual clients within a caseload and will demonstrate that the changing needs of clients are
reviewed regularly and objectives reset with trained staff.
The postholder will demonstrate the development of a caring practice whilst respecting the clients
and carers home environment. You will provide advice and support to clients and
carers within the scope of your practice building relationships with clients while
participating in reviews of care/care plans in the multi-disciplinary team.

Following the achievement of set competencies with trained staff  you will undertake specified tasks with named patients.

You will maintain an CPD Portfolio demonstrating the continuing acquisition of skills, knowledge, attitudes, understanding and achievement.

Team Working
The postholder will work collaboratively as a member of the multi-disciplinary team
demonstrating/developing well established networks and will contribute to the achievement of team
goals.

Resource Management 
You will demonstrate basic key board skills and will carry out all designated
administrative tasks effectively, producing statistical information and reports as required.
Training and Development
The post holder will seek opportunities to develop knowledge and skills and will participate
constructively in the Performance Review and Appraisal process.

Environmental Management

The postholder will contribute to the risk management of the immediate physical environment they
work in which will involve understanding and promoting all health, safety and security measures
within the community environment and other working areas.

Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults
You will take responsibility for the safeguarding and welfare of all children, adults
and/or families within their care and conduct and must be familiar with the signs and symptoms of
abuse and know what to do if any such concerns are raised or are identified. You will be
aware of and comply with Family Nursing & Home Care safeguarding and policies and procedures
