Welcome to Child Accident Prevention Jersey

Child Accident Prevention Jersey (CAPJ) is a not-for-profit part of Family Nursing & Home Care (FNHC).

Under the management of FNHC, who also fund the role of a part time CAPJ coordinator, we work in partnership with other organisations, both voluntary and statutory, to ensure children in Jersey are safe from unintentional injury.

We strongly believe that children need opportunities to learn, explore and have fun whilst managing risk and so we aim to provide education for all children aged 0 – 12 years, enabling them to do this.

We are also available to parents and carers, childcare providers, educators, and anyone else who needs advice or information about keeping children safe.

Safety Sam is our larger-than-life mascot! He visits schools, fetes and events promoting child safety!

The Child Accident Prevention Jersey alliance was formed in 1996, by the then Director of Family Nursing & Home Care (FNHC), as an acknowledgment that, whilst many statutory and voluntary agencies contributed to child accident prevention, activities were largely fragmented and an ineffective use of diminishing resources. The group continues under the management of Family Nursing & Home Care.
