The most common causes of burns to children are spilt hot drinks so put baby down before having a cup of tea or coffee and always ensure that these are well out of reach of children.
These drinks can still cause a serious burn 15 minutes after they have been made.
When bathing babies and children always put the cold water in the bath first and test the temperature of the water before putting them in.
Hair straighteners, irons, electrical chargers, cookers, motorbike exhausts, radiators and hot pipes are amongst the things that can cause serious burns but there are others as well, so supervision is key.
